What should I do if an email comes back as undeliverable? Is there a way to flag the address as incorrect, like you can with a member's home address?
The one thing you do NOT want to do when you get a returned email is to change the email address to a fake one like bademail@xxx.com. Instead, check the Wrong email address flag on the member's account. You can access this flag anywhere an email address can be entered, such as through the Name/Address button (F14) in Inquiry and Phone Operator, or via Tool #14 Member Personal Banker (shortcut: pb), or via Tool #15 Update Membership Information (shortcut: umbr). When a member's ema More...

On the CU*BASE Home Page, why are some of the tools grayed out and I can't click on them?
That's because your employee ID (the one that was entered on the Welcome! window when you first logged in) does not have access to those tools. These will be most noticeable when viewing All Available Tools. (If you use All My Tools then any tools to which you do not have access will be hidden altogether.)

On the CU*BASE Home Page, can I have someone walk up to my workstation to log me into an option I can't normally access?
With the way the new home page works, remember that regardless of whether or not you have Auto-security activated, the visibility of the tools that display on your page will now be controlled by your employee ID. So if your employee ID doesn't have access to a tool, it will show as grayed-out in the tool list, so it cannot be accessed at all. Someone who does have access would need to log in with their ID first to set the tool list up with the proper permissions.

We have a link to Online Banking from our website. When a member logs out, can they be brought back to our home page automatically?
Members who use either this logout button or the Logout button at the top of the page will be directed to the Online Banking Community (OBC) page. Your credit union can select a different landing page, however. Contact the Internet Retailer Support Center to activate this feature at irsc@cuanswers.com.

There are still screens and reports here and there that show labels such as “Home phone” and “Cell phone” but those don’t look like my CU-defined labels nor the ones entered when setting up the phone number for the member. What do these labels mean?
When the new database was created it was not feasible to adjust all of the hundreds of programs, custom forms, and reports where phone numbers happened to be used. So the original labels used prior to the 18.07 release may still appear here and there. That’s why the new database automatically copies contact numbers back to the original locations in MASTER and MASTRL, so these locations can still be used by those programs that were not adjusted to use the new MASTPH table directly. As a r More...

How do I print a denial notice for non-lending (member service) related applications such as ATM/Debit card applications or Home Banking membership applications?
The Member Service Denials feature (to create/print denial notices) can be accessed via a Denied button located within Tool #3 Open/Maintain Memberships/Accounts. A credit union can configure miscellaneous member service denial notice types such as: ATM/Debit Card application denials, checking account denials, membership application denials, etc. These member service denials are commonly used for denied services that would not involve a loan application/request.

If I want to give someone else access to my PC so they can take over my teller workstation for the rest of the day, can I just turn off auto-security and have them reactivate it themselves, or do I have to log off?
Deactivating auto-security then reactivating it does require you to enter a different employee ID. After a password is entered to reactivate auto-security under that ID, the screen will refresh the tools display to show which ones can be accessed and which cannot. However, it doesn't necessarily refresh all of that employee's other preferences such as color theme or tool set (Favorites vs. All My Tools). Therefore it's best to just log off and have the next user log in to complete More...

If I don't want my staff to use Auto-security, how do I control that?
There is a credit union-level on/off flag where you can disable auto-security as an option for ALL of your employees. To access this, launch Tool #327 Employee Security and use the CU Options button. If auto-security is enabled, anyone can choose to activate it if they wish, either manually by clicking the button at the bottom of the home page, or via their Preferences. Can you explain how the system secures funds for debit card authorizations?
The process can vary a bit according to the vendor, but here's a discussion about how it works for credit unions on the CO-OP network, as an example. In most cases, debit card authorizations create a Misc. Secured Shares record on the member's account to hold the funds. When the actual transaction comes in, this record is automatically deleted. (There are exceptions to this rule, such as gas purchases.) A little history: In the past, debit card authorizations would add a hold to an ind More...

My member gets a Social Security (SSA) deposit via ACH. We use an ACH distribution to pay the member’s loan payment, but the loan payment was not made. Why did this happen and what benefits are there to using an Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) instead?
Prior to the 16.10 release, the SSA began using multiple Company IDs, and it was recommended that credit unions consider using Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs) to handle distributions. Beginning the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system will be implemented that will automatically funnel all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” With the changes ma More...

I am receiving a 'printer timeout error' when trying to print a document to my HP Laserjet 2200. What should I do?
The first thing to do is make sure all the cables are connected securely to the printer and the PC. Be sure to note if one of the cables is a network cable. If all of the cables are securely connected and you still cannot print, restart the PC and the printer. If you receive the same error once the printer and PC are back up, there is likely a hardware issue with the printer. If one of the cables that plugs into the printer is a network cable then the Jet Direct card (a network interface More...

What do the various device and print job statuses on the iSeries mean?
When a device first connects to the iSeries, a virtual device is created - consider it a placeholder for that workstation or printer. Only one device can exist for each ID, which is why only one person can sign into a printer at a time. Throughout the virtual devices lifecycle, there are several different statuses that device can be in. Read below for some details! The FACT Act requires we notify members when a credit score was used to determine eligibility for a mortgage loan. How can I use CU*BASE tools to comply with this requirement?
Option 1: Create a Misc. Member Account Form with the appropriate text, and add a procedure for your loan processors to print this form whenever a loan like this is created. Since the CU*BASE online credit bureau system has no way to know if a credit score is used in the underwriting decision, nor whether the credit report was used for a mortgage or home equity loan, this will be manual process. What are the differences between an online ASP and in-house e-document strategy?
The differences ultimately come down to control and cost. The online ASP system is the fastest, simplest, most inexpensive way to get started with an e-documents strategy for your credit union. With online ASP you offload the back-end service management headaches to CU*Answers. We manage, backup, secure, and patch/upgrade the eDOC servers and databases and these processes fall under our SAS 70 and third party security audits. Why does CU*BASE show delinquency in two different ways? In some places it is months/days and others it is actual number of days.
There are two methods used to track delinquent loans for reporting purposes in CU*BASE: Method One (for Collections tracking) We have always tracked delinquency in two separate fields for “Months” and ‘Days” in the member files. When a loan is 30 days delinquent, it shows as “0 Months, 30 Days” delinquent. When a loan is 31 days delinquent, it is “1 Month, 0 Days” delinquent.
